That’s a wrap 2020!

December is always a fun time of year in the classroom! The class worked hard making their parents a gift. The students learned how to sand a piece of wood, use a hammer and nail a Christmas tree outline to the board. Then, we strung the yarn and string to create a beautiful gift! ☺️

They also solved a Christmas mystery and helped Santa rescue Rudolph through reading clues and high order thinking puzzles. Each were given a certificate stating they were top agents!

To end this year, we celebrated the birth of Jesus with a Christmas party! Yummy food, PJ’s and painting!

From our class to you, Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

We are Thankful for technology

While students writing awesome poetry is the end goal, the first step is reading awesome poetry and analyzing it. Reading and analyzing phenomenal poetry, beyond the rhyme scheme and surface level analysis, has the potential to connect to students in deep and meaningful ways.

In addition to many school presentations and performances this year, our Poetry Cafe was recorded live from our classroom for our family and friends. Enjoy!

Traveling the world at our fingertips

3rd graders have been busy sharpening their knowledge on geography concepts! They’ve traveled the globe through VR (virtual reality) goggles and located specific places on Google Earth!

Social distancing hasn’t stopped us from learning in the classroom! Chapel looks a little different this year, but we are still being fed God’s word virtually on Tuesday mornings and each day in the classroom through our Daily Devotions.

This year I chose “punch cards” for positive reinforcements. After 10 punches, students get to choose from a list of rewards….show and tell has been a hit so far!
*Our school community helped with the Hurricane Laura relief. 3rd graders helped gather all donations from all ends of our campus and help me load the items. My husband and I took the donations to Southwest Louisiana and helped supply over 120 families with needed items and food!

September 11, 2001 changed the face of America and it revealed the hero’s around us. Today we honored the lives lost of 9/11 attacks by celebrating Patriot Day. This collaborative poster activity encouraged students to work together to create a stunning poster to hang on the wall as a reminder to Never Forget.
