Leaf Rubbings

The students loved using the crayons to create la leaf masterpiece. This activity allowed your preschooler to explore the texture of leaves. Fine motor skills were strengthened as the children pinched the crayon.

Abiyoyo

One of our books from the tree unit its ABIYOYO. We took a trip to South Africa this week and we learned about a giant named Abiyoyo. The father and his son are ostracized from the town.

Fantastic Fall

Jumping Beans - Objective 16 Demonstrates knowledge of the alphabet

This activity helps with letter recognition. Each child had to pull out a coffee bean and tell the class if it was a letter or a jumping bean. Everyone jumped when a jumping bean was taken out.

The 7th and 8th grade students wrote , illustrated and read a book to each primary student. Our older students share their talents with our younger students. St. James students learn at an early age to care for others.

Say It, Show It - Obj. 20 Uses number concepts and operations

Your child had to recognize the number on the card and perform a simple motion to demonstrate their knowledge of the quantity that it represents.

LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD

We had a blast with a great book from the clothing unit! A special thank you to Mrs Lisa Norton for acting as grandmother and to Hazel Burkes for playing the part of Red Riding Hood. Mrs. Lisa is retired from St. James and Hazel is a student at St.James. This dramatic presentation helped your child with language skills, vocabulary, comprehension and expression

A Folktale from Thailand

THE GIRL WHO WORE TOO MUCH

This week we took a trip to Thailand to learn about a little girl named Ari. Ari wants to wear every dress she has to a dance. Ari misses the dance because the clothes are too heavy. She learns to be happy with less. After I read the story it was time to pretend to be Ari. We had a wonderful time with this activity!

OBJ. 16 DEMONSTRATES KNOWLEDGE OF THE ALPHABET - SHAVING CREAM LETTERS

The students made letters with shaving cream. The extra stimulation of shaving cream can help a child understand the idea of the shape of a letter.

Mrs. Cristen showed us how to crochet.
