Our Building Unit
WHAT DO THE BUILDINGS IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD AND IN OTHER PLACES LOOK LIKE?
Our neighborhood is our school campus. Mrs. Denise gave us a tour of the buildings on our campus. She told us about the materials used to construct our buildings.
I reminded the children that we leave our building and we travel to another building for p.e., music and lunch. I used the computer to show the children how buildings look in large cities.
LETTER M IS FOR MAP
During our building unit the children were able to locate buried treasure. Mrs. Amanda and I made a beautiful treasure map for our classes. We used the treasure map as a tool for following directions. After our treasure hunt the children made their own treasure map. Maps help your child with pre-reading , pre- writing and spatial reasoning skills.
During the month of March we celebrated St. Patricks Day and we learned that St. Patrick spread the news of Jesus Christ with the people of Ireland.
GEOMETRY WITH TERRIFIC TRIANGLES
Builders know that a triangle is one of the strongest shapes. It is used in bridges, roads, and trusses. The class took turns making a triangle with their bodies. During this lesson the children learned to identify and describe triangles.
