We Follow Rules At School

WHAT ARE OUR RULES?

This week we talked about our school rules. Rules keep us safe in the classroom and on the playground. We talked about rules for children and rules for adults. We learned about a little girl named Mary and her lamb. Mary’s lamb had to follow rules too.

LET’S PRETEND

Everyone had a blast pretending to be Mary or her little lamb. As your child pretends they are using great social skills and expanding their vocabulary

Letter L is for Lamb. The class used a big line and a little line to form the letter L. We talked about the sound letter L makes. During an art activity, we used our fine motor skills as we pinched cotton balls and glued them to our lamb.

A VISIT FROM MARY - A WOW MOMENT!

The children were amazed to see Mary and her lamb at our school! A special thank you to Boogie Brown and her mother Ashley. Boogie was in my class a few years ago and I was thrilled when she came for a visit! Boogie pretended to be Mary and she helped the children understand that everyone has to follow rules. She has taken care of this lamb since birth and Boogie is a blessing to St.James.

OUR FEELINGS

Little Miss Muffet

The children loved taking turns wearing the spider hat and pretending to be Miss Muffet. Dramatic play builds comprehension skills by allowing children to act out familiar stories and rhymes. The children loved acting and making videos. This activity helped us think of other people and things they might be scared of.

OBJECTIVE 22 - COMPARES AND MEASURES

We used our math skills as we counted, measured, and compared our ingredients to make black bean and corn salad. I put the recipe on the dry erase board and we followed the directions carefully. As we followed our recipe the class learned that print is important and words have meaning. We were glad to have our friends from Mrs. Amanda's class join us for this wonderful activity!

See you soon,

Mrs.Diane
