Our Building Unit
What do we know about buildings?
This was our first week to discuss buildings and the children had a great time exploring our building. We learned that buildings have doors, windows, ceilings, floors and walls. During this unit your child will learn concepts in science, social studies, literacy, math and the arts.
OBJ. 19 DEMONSTRATES EMERGENT WRITING SKILLS
We walked through our building this week. The children drew pictures of our building during our walk. As your child draws pictures they are preparing their hands for writing skills.
D is for Dog!
A special thank you to all our parents for making this week wonderful! We Loved all the DOGS!
We were thrilled to have a special grandfather join our class. Mr. Fowler brought his box drum and we loved it! He played the drums for his daughter’s class when she was at St. James. This week he played for his granddaughter, she was overjoyed! Our parents and grandparents make our school special.
OBJ. 21 Explores and describes spatial relationships and shapes
Your child went on an positional word adventure this week! The class walked on stepping stones, crawled through a tunnel, swam under a bridge, walked on a balance beam and jumped over a bolder.
Who builds buildings? What tools do they use?
Your child pretended to be a carpenter this week. We used hammers and saws. Dramatic play was the place to be!
We will have more wonderful news about buildings next time.
