about Sunny Wright, Artist-in-Residence

Sunny Wright has been part of the St. James School family since 1987, when she and her husband, Ron, enrolled their daughter Jenny in the Kindergarten program. Her experiences as a St. James mother and room mother set a permanent love in her heart for this school. With credentials as an award winning professional artist, she was asked to join the faculty in 1991 as the Artist-in-Residence and Art Instructor. Sunny has studied with many well known local, national, and internationally recognized artists, including Frank Covino, with whom she was privileged to study Classical Academic Oil Painting in the style of the old masters. She serves as juror for numerous multi-state art competitions, and has also held appointments as Director of Fine Arts for the Four States Fair, Board of Directors for the Four States Fair, and Secretary for the Fine Arts Consortium. Sunny credits all of her artistic ability to a gift from God, and feels both a passion and a responsibility to share this gift with others. By combining her artistic talent with her love of people and nature into realistic art, she hopes to fulfill this responsibility by bringing beauty and joy into the lives of others through art. She claims her biggest joy, however, is to be able to spark the same love of art in St. James students with the hope that they too will share their gifts with the world! There is nothing more rewarding than seeing the joy on their faces when they have discovered what they are able to create! When Sunny is not creating art or teaching, she enjoys spending time with family and loved ones. Daughter Jenny, a St. James alum, lives in Dallas. Jenny holds a Doctorate of Clinical Psychology and a Psy.D. in Neuropsychology. Son Christopher holds a Doctorate in Philosophy and History, specializing in Middle Eastern History and Ancient Christianity. He is a tenured professor at The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina. Chris and wife Eden are parents of two wonderful and talented grandchildren, Brittany and Zachary.
